The Top Apple M5 MacBook Air Accessories | 2026 Guide

All right, the M5 MacBook Air just released. So, let’s go over the best accessories to pair with it.

Laptop Protection

First on this list is some protection, a case sleeve for your laptop. Ever since I was a kid, I’ve always used case sleeves for both really nice protection for my laptops and also easy transportation if there’s a handle or strap attached to it.

And because of this, despite the fact that my main MacBook when I was in college experienced a ton of drops and bumps within my backpack, it still has zero damage. These things are good and I’m a big supporter of them because I know they’ve been helpful for me. So, that’s my number one on this list.

Power and Charging

Next up, a long charger for your MacBook, especially if you’re a college student or general consumer, you’ll need a longer charger than you might think. And that’s because there will be times you’re in a work environment, coffee shop, class, even your bedroom, where you’ll need a charger that’s longer than a few feet. I’d opt for at least a 10-ft charging cable for the peace of mind and ability to just charge your computer anywhere.

After that, a battery pack can be a good option for you. Go for one of the higher wattage options because those can really charge your laptop for a while. And the best part about having a battery pack is that you can charge not just your MacBook Air, but also your phone, your headphones, other accessories.

Cleaning Essentials

Now, for the screen of your MacBook, a microfiber cloth can be super handy to keep everything nice and clean. I’m a big microfiber cloth guy because I constantly need to have one for my glasses and my many different screens around me. So, getting just a set of microfiber cloths to put into your case sleeve, backpack, or just your pocket can be very helpful.

Connectivity and Storage

Now, one thing that is a must for most of you because it’s that helpful and necessary is a USB hub. These things are so important if you’re going to use any different port besides USB-C. The MacBook Air doesn’t support many cables, so having something that does work with HDMI, maybe Ethernet, USB-A, all of those different ones can be a lifesaver.

They can help you with your presentations, your work, and so on. I would definitely look to see what you’re going to be doing with this laptop in the future because if you’re going to need any different port besides USB-C, a USB hub is definitely a must-have.

And finally, an external SSD. Storage has always been notoriously expensive on the Apple side of things, so getting an external SSD enables you to expand the storage of your laptop without having to configure it with more upfront. You can always just buy a new one and switch one out for another. So, be sure to check out the external SSDs, too.

But, those were all of the must-have accessories that I’d recommend for the new M5 MacBook Air. What do you think of the list? Would you add any?  My name is Sirus. It’s spelled like Cyrus, but not like Sir Rooster. Just take out the ter. Thank you very much for reading and have a wonderful day.
