The Top Apple MacBook Neo Accessories | 2026 Guide

Apple just announced the new and incredibly inexpensive MacBook Neo that is targeted to both students and general computer users alike. The question is, after you buy this laptop, what else should you get with it? Well, let’s talk about it. This is the MacBook Neo accessory guide. Affiliate links down below.

Laptop Protection

First, one accessory that I always purchase when I buy a new laptop, a case sleeve. Especially for the MacBook Neo, laptops are meant to be traveled with, whether across campus, to work, or to a nearby coffee shop for instance. And because of that, well, your laptop can get hurt through bumps and bruises, water damage, drops, etc.

This protects your laptop, at least when you’re transporting it. And by putting your MacBook in this, there’s a lot more peace of mind when you’re traveling. The case sleeves fit in your backpack, are very malleable, and even guard against water damage. Ever since I got my first MacBook, I’ve rocked one of these, and I can’t imagine just putting my computer into my backpack without a sleeve. I’ve seen a lot, and because of my case sleeves, my laptops are still kicking. So, number one for me is the laptop case sleeve.

External Storage

And usually what I got next with each of my MacBooks in particular is an external SSD. Typically, storage is really expensive for Apple, and this is still the case for the MacBook Neo. Now, granted, if you get the Touch ID variant, you do receive a storage upgrade bump, but if you’re not getting that Touch ID version or you just need more storage for projects and work, I just purchase an external SSD.

They’re nice to have as a way to just store your files so it’s not overload your computer and hurt its performance. I do have a preference for the more rugged or weather-resistant external SSDs because I travel a lot with my laptops. And so, that gives me a little bit more peace of mind. But, you’re open to choose whichever one works best for you. They’re a more inexpensive way to get more storage.

Cleaning and Maintenance

Now, not to contribute to that kind of meme for this product being the Apple microfiber cloth, but one thing I actually do like having around, especially because I have glasses and need them clean, is a microfiber cloth. I keep one handy because laptops generally tend to get really dirty, especially the screen. Even my newest laptop, just the dust and everything gets on it at some point. So, having a trusty microfiber cloth that’s cheap is nice to have and nice to keep around.

Power and Connectivity

And also really nice to keep around, especially for college students, is this next accessory, an extra-long charging cable. Now, hold on. Watch out here. The MacBook charger on the MacBook Neo is not the same as other MacBook chargers. Some MacBooks have a magnetic dedicated MagSafe charger for charging the computer, but the MacBook Neo does not. So, get a long, preferably at least 10-ft USB-C cable that you can use in your bed or for a faraway outlet at a library or coffee shop. You wouldn’t believe how convenient it is to have one of those and how much you appreciate it when out and about.

Finally, my last accessory recommendation would be a USB dock. Notably, the MacBook Neo has okay connectivity, but not great. Two USB-Cs and a headphone jack. Problem is is that if you want to connect anything while you’re out and about at university or just in public, you’ll probably want a USB dock for, for instance, HDMI connection to a monitor or TV. Getting a USB dock can make your laptop so much more usable and versatile, especially in the student and work environment.

Audio and Tracking Essentials

Another thing you’ll appreciate and most definitely need, headphones. I tend to rock my portable and small AirPods. They go with me everywhere, but there are so many other good options that you can rock. Point being, getting some headphones would be great to pair with your laptop to get work done outside of the house and to not be limited with what work you can complete. And also to pair with this, just a small side accessory, you could get some AirTags if you sport many different products and you want to track them.

And those are all of the top MacBook Neo accessories for workers and students alike. I hope this article helped you, my name is Ceriust. It’s spelled like Siri, but that’s C E R I U S T A, just take out the T A. Thank you very much for reading and have a wonderful day.
