Alright, Let’s talk about some good accessories for your Surface Pro 8 that will be extremely helpful for you on the daily. I’ve got 5 categories of things to go over, so let’s go over the list. Now before we begin, I want to list a couple givens that I assume you’ve purchased already with your device. Those being the Surface Pen and Keyboard. They’re pretty standard for most people’s setups, so we’re gonna go over accessories that are less common for the average Joe, with number 1 being a power bank.
1. Portable Power Banks
The Surface Pro 8 is known for a pretty poor battery life, only being able to survive around 6-ish hours without needing a charge. So, if you’re on the go for a long time, you’ll need something to keep your laptop running. You’ll want something that can charge at a 65 Watt output, so it can charge quickly. And also, you’ll want a power bank with over 20,000 milliamp hours, so it can charge most of the device’s battery.
So, I recommend the Anker 747 Power Bank. It’s reliable, effective, and has been on the market for quite some time. However, I do understand that this device can be a little expensive, so I included the Baseus or “Base-Us” Power Bank as well. It has all the features that you need in a power bank at a great price. Those battery packs, in general, should be a very high priority for anyone who travels. So, I’d recommend you throw that on your list as something to purchase.
2. Ergonomic Mice
And onto our next item, which is also kind of a given, a mouse. Now, you can get the Microsoft Arc Mouse, which you often see paired with this laptop in its advertisements, and it is nice because it’s compact and minimalist. But for the price, you can get better.
I recommend the Logitech MX Master 3, which is, yes, a little more expensive. But, everyone loves this mouse. It’s extremely usable for any workload, being ergonomic and comfortable. And it’s wireless, so less cables. So, it is your choice on which mouse you want. There are definitely other, cheaper options out there. But, I suggest the Logitech MX Master 3.
3. Connectivity Hubs
Next, let’s talk about connectivity. The Surface Pro 8 comes with an abysmal port selection, 2 USB-C, a headphone jack, and the Surface Connect Port, which is not nearly enough for most people. So in this case, I recommend getting some sort of hub for your device.
I have two options for you, either the big brick dock or the compact one. Let’s talk about the big brick first because it comes with quite a bit. This is the Surface Dock which can be used to power monitors and satisfy all of your connectivity needs. It’s a really great all-in-one for connectivity. But, it is big.
So if you’re looking for something that’s easier to transport, I gotcha. This is my second option: The Baseus, oh my gosh this name again, 8-in-1 USB-C hub. It should literally have pretty much every port you require plus more. So if you’re looking for something compact, that’s your guy right there.
4. Device Protection and Security
Moving on, we’ve got device protective security. In other words, cases. I’ve got 2, one for you to throw your device inside of and another for you to transport it in.
First, the Spigen Folio Case. This is great for those who want the extra protection for their device in case it falls or something, which, if you didn’t know, does happen from time to time in college. So if you want to keep your laptop protected at all times, that’s a good option.
You can also get a travel case for your laptop as well. I use cases from Mosiso which are both protective for my devices and economical for me. And it’s waterproof, so there’s no worry about rain at all. So, overall, great case for your laptop.
5. Storage Expansion
And lastly, to supplement this device’s poor storage, I recommend getting an external SSD. These are super helpful for being able to backup information or just to have more storage for a laptop that doesn’t come with enough.
So, I recommend these three: I have the SanDisk one which is able to survive many extreme weather conditions. So if you’re going to be walking outside for instance, definitely consider something a bit more rugged. And for most people, I would also recommend getting at least one terabyte of storage, especially when they’re on sale.
And those were my five, or really like ten, accessories that I recommend for your Surface Pro 8. If you have any more that you’d like to suggest, leave them in the comment section down below. My name is Cyrus. It’s spelled like “Cyrus,” pronounced like “See Rooster,” just take out the “ter”. Thank you very much for reading and have a wonderful day! Peace.
