With prices surging everywhere, it’s pretty tough to find Tech that’s budget friendly but every now and then you find a gem. These are the raycon everyday earbuds. Let’s talk about them. For full disclosure these earbuds were sent over and sponsored to me by raycon but they do not have an impact on the rating of this review. Therefore, the outline is as follows: device overview, sound quality, special features and final rating. Links in the description.
Device Overview
These are the new raycon everyday earbuds and in terms of features for the price these things pack quite the punch. For $80 you get active noise cancelling, ip66 water and dust resistance, wireless charging Etc. They’re honestly pretty solid. Taking a look at what these earbuds come with you’ll find a charging cable and multiple ear tips.
Now one complaint I have is the charging cable is USBC to USB which is fine but it doesn’t come with a brick so you’ll need to either use your own cable like USBC to USBC and then your own brick or use your old brick that you might still have with usba. A small complaint but still something to know. The amount of ear tips get though is quite extensive depending on your ear size you can most certainly find the best of it for you. I found the default ear tips to work perfectly for me so I have no complaints there.
Build and Design
Taking a look at the device itself I got the lovely matte black variant which looks quite premium and quite stylish. The gese can flip open with just one finger and is wireless charging. On the back there’s a battery indicator on the front showing how much juice the case has left and then a USBC port on the bottom. Earbuds in their case are mostly plastic which means they’ll be on the lighter side which is good for running.
And another thing that’s good for running or just exercising in general is the water and dust resistance. Frankly I don’t sweat too much near the ears when I work out but with the most intense regimens I have I’ve had no issues with the earbuds at all. They’ve been good and they fit nicely in my ears and don’t fall out either.
Protective Case
I was also sent the protective case which would be an extra $20 and it works really well if you drop the headphone case or bump into something. The Silicon kind of squishy material on the outside really protects the device well and you don’t need to worry about any potential brakes.
Sound Quality
Frankly no matter whether I’m listening to music or editing videos I’ve experienced no issues with the audio. They sound good. They do have multiple features to adjust the sound quality which we’ll get to momentarily but for the default outof boox audio experience I’ve had no issues with these earbuds.
One thing to note is the range of the earbuds is actually pretty good. I currently live in a dorm that has a common bathroom re use and when I walk the many feet or so between my room and the bathroom away from my phone the earbuds were still connected. No sound Cuts or anything that was is nice and it’s those little things that make these budget friendly earbuds good for the common consumer.
Microphone Performance
The mic quality on these things is fine it works well when I’m on the phone with someone so no complaints there. This is an audio test with the raycon everyday earbuds it’s pretty accurate to what it’s going to sound like with a phone call. You can hear a little bit of the wind noise but at least you can hear my voice as well.
Special Features
There are quite a few notably there is no raycon earbuds app unfortunately so there isn’t too much customization with the gesture controls. But for features like ANC or active noise cancellation you just tap and hold the right earbud to toggle it on or off. Additionally you can also tap the right earbud for awareness mode which allows you to hear what’s going on around you and none of these different options impacted the sound quality for me. So good stuff they just adjust what things sound like around you.
Now when tapping the left ear you can switch between the balanced bass and pure sound modes which I prefer the balance mode for my regular use but the bass mode increases the base and the pure sound is more crisp more treble. I would say all of them are definitely usable for different folks but for my typical grind I’ll use the active noise cancelling feature and balance sound mode. So in terms of these little gestures I really like them especially thec tap modes it’s nice to be able to switch how much you can hear of what’s going on around you in a quick way. The only wish I had for these earbuds would be that they had ear detection which would pause the music when you take them out that would be super red but for the other features no complaints here.
Final Rating
Overall these earbuds have a lot going for them. I know raycon has been quite prominent in the Internet space and I don’t have any issues with them regarding my personal rating of these earbuds. I’d give them an 8.5 out of 10 overall which for Budget earbuds is great. Yes they do lack the charging brick, don’t have an app and don’t have ear detection but they’re cost effective feature packed and solid sounding overall and I’m pretty satisfied with these and we’ll continue to use them in the future for a long while.
