So just now Apple announced some new iPhones that are especially similar this year so which one is better let’s go over the raw stats.
Pricing and Market Positioning
Starting off the iPhone 15 is Apple’s new phone with many exciting features starting at 800 while the iPhone 15 Pro is Apple’s professional grade iPhone with some tuned up features starting at one thousand dollars. Both phones are used regularly by consumers everywhere so a lot of this comparison will boil down to personal preference and of course that price so let’s continue.
Design and Form Factor
For the form factors both devices will share similar sizes even their larger variants. However there will be some key differences between the pro and non-provariants notably the screens.
The pro version having a better looking display with that glorious promotion meaning 120 hertz High refresh rate screen while the normal one will still look good especially since it’s OLED but no 120 hertz. Moreover the normal iPhone 15 will not sport the titanium outer shell which is a bit lighter and more premium.
However for this year both models will be seeing the dynamic Island which was showcased with the pro variants last year being refined a bit for this generation. The dynamic Island seems to be a Mainstay for a little while and also that new action button replacing the mute switch which allows you to program shortcuts on the phone to do whatever you want. So visually for the form factors these two are fairly similar let’s keep going.
Connectivity and Hardware
Connectivity wise both phones will sport USBC this year so thank goodness no more having different cables and our 5G capable so pretty similar here. But for the next section this is where the difference is really lie the camera. Seeing that the pro version is by nature and name directed toward professionals we see a far more impressive camera system with multiple lenses that will surely satisfy many photographers out there. But even then the regular iPhone 15 is still good just that the pro version is a tad better.
And that’s the same case with the internal specs. The iPhone 15 Pro will support the new and improved a17 chip while the regular will use the a16. Now both are extremely solid for phones like you can’t really go wrong or much better than either but for efficiency and performance sake of course the pro will be a bit faster. The pro version will also have a little leg up in the storage situation too but not too much as the pro variant will sport a one terabyte maximum option while the normal is limited to 512 gigabytes which shouldn’t be too bad.
Now for batteries both of these devices are excellent with apple claiming over 20 hours per device with the Pro Models just doing a tad better than the regular ones but my gosh talk about all-day battery life. And lastly of course these both will be running the same operating system iOS 17 with them being announced literally today and releasing just a little bit later down the line.
Final Verdict: Normal or Pro?
So now that we’re done with the raw stats let’s get on to my verdict. So the age-old debate now iPhone normal or iPhone bro. Well me being the way that I am I personally prefer the pro. I like the extra features love the premium build and look and those extra cameras will do wonders for this channel in the future.
But for you that depends. Firstly the price is the biggest differentiator between these two devices. iPhones are a lot of money and saving what cash you can by not buying something with features that you don’t need would be a wise decision especially in this economy.
Given that the pro version really is directed for professionals besides a few features I’d suggest that if you’re a typical consumer who uses your phone for everyday tasks like texting phone calls and scrolling through social media save the money and just get the regular model. But if you really need those extra cameras like if you record for your YouTube channel with your phone or you like to take a lot of pictures the Bro version would probably be your best bet.
But ultimately at the end of the day these phones are just phones tools essentially and as we do with all of our tools we focus on our needs first so make sure to stay disciplined with this purchase.
